It's not just the US where eyewitness identification is problematic, the difficulties with it are well known in the legal world throughout. There are any number of studies on it, and plenty of info on line.
"Eyewitness misidentification is widely recognised as the leading cause of wrongful convictions in the United States, accounting for more wrongful convictions than all other causes combined".
That quote comes from the Justice Project, www.THEJUSTICEPROJECT.org. They cite several studies as their source;
Edward Connors et al, National Institute of Justice, U.S. Dept. of Justice, Convicted by Jury, Exonerated by Science.
Gary L Wells et al, Eyewitness Identification Procedure: Recommendations for Lineups and Photospreads.
Samuel R Gross et al, Exonerations in the United States 1989 through 2003.
There is a whole wealth of other stuff out there as to the problems, and pointing to the need for extreme caution when it comes to eyewitness identification.
Keno it just seems to be that thread, and all of a sudden, because I had already posted on it without bother. It was just a few things I wanted to say about punk, musical competence, and the slating of earlier musicians/music. It can keep till next time there is a thread on the subject. Thanks!
