I was thinking that the movie came out long after all of that happened, not during the trail. But again, I never saw it so I can't judge it.

my point about eyewitness identification was, that it is not entirely reliable one way or the other...you wouldn't get a conviction on it alone, you would need other corroborating evidence..

If one of the men who was shot takes a look at Carter and tells the police that he never saw the man before and he wasn't there that nite, why not believe him? Had this dude instead had said: "He's the guy who shot me and the others", would we not believe him? At least here in the US, that would be looked at as major grounds to convict him - so why not when he says the opposite!?
