Here in the US, a eyewitnesses' ID like that is usually grounds alone to convict, and many have been sent away for just that reason alone. Yet in this case, where the opposite took place, since the police were out to get him, well, they got him. But at least most of us know the truth in this sad case - that Carter didn't do it. Can you imagine being accused of killing a bunch of people that you had nothing to do with, and even decades after it took place, and the week you die, some people think it's cool to still accuse you of doing it? Let the poor dude rest in peace, he didn't kill anybody and he's gone now, yet some want to drag his body through the mud now anyway.
