Ringo may infact be rude ive never met the man, but ive been a fan of his since i was 4 or 5 years old,and im 54 now.He always seemed to me like a nice approachable guy when he was off drugs and the bottle.The reason he stopped the fan mail crap was because he was signing hundreds of items that he thought the fans really wanted for sentimental reasons then he saw dozens of them being sold on ebay.Yes the constant peace and love mantra sounds a bit overdone and goofy.But i like the guy and im damn glad he still performs and records often.Hes an ok singer and he wrote a handful or two of pretty good songs and hes a rock solid drummer.Did he get lucky and get a gigantic break by getting in with the right guys,sure he did?But hes a very charismatic guy and has star power,there a dozens of rock stars with no charisma or personality at all.Hes certainly not one of them.
