RE: Background on website names/other things (NSC)

I don't think he runs the forum day to day so I'm not putting him down, though it does take a great ego to name a forum after one's self.

One thing to note, and this may or may not apply to Steve's site since I don't know what year it was first started.... But back in the early days of the internet, in the 1990s, and up until the early '00s, most new web sites that were owned by individuals and not businesses, were named after the person who started it or owned it. That was why all of my sites started back then had the name "Keno" before it - and it had nothing to do with self promoting, but just letting people know who was running the site and set it apart from other websites. None of us back then had a clue as to what we were getting ourselves into and just how big the internet was going to get how permanent it would be. Thing was, for so most sites started in the '90s, they didn't last for more than a couple of years or so, unlike what we see today with the modern sites.... Today I look back at the names of my old sites and flat out hate them, but it's way to late to renamed them now. I've been told by people the name "Keno" is a cool one, so why change it, but today it does seems like something that's just self promoting. I guess the only good thing for my name is it is an easy to remember name and different, and when I look in my domain's stats for words used to Google my sites, I'm blown away at how larger a number of people month after month, will look for my sites using the same one word, stuff like 'Keno's Stones site" or "Keno's rock site", etc. But people regularly even search for my sites that I don't use my name on, like my Colorado and NY Cam sites, or my weather site, or even Gasland, and I never could totally figure that out as to why, since my name isn't a part of the site's name.

One thing with the word "forum". I hate that people now call message boards this today. They were always called "message boards" back in the '90s and then all of a sudden some bozo decide to be fancy I guess and called them "forums", and now that's what most call such online joints today. We're a message board damn it, and that's what they were always called back in the day! Forums were buildings where people would meet in the real world, not a online community like Gasland!

In closing, mike, maybe you should write the admin person who runs the Beatles' board where you were mistreated, or better yet, write Steve (or write both of them). If I had somebody running a board under my name and the person was censoring posts for no good reason, I would want to know about it so that I could put a stop to it. There is a chance Steve doesn't know this is going on. I love the Beatles myself, but you got to allow all kinds of talk on there and not limit what is being said, and any person who runs a board should know that for their board to make it and keep going. Message boards will/do die out in time if the boardmaster does crap like that.
