Okay, got ya on that, and yes, you are correct, the punks did go against the Boomers, and again, they went after the wrong people.
I've noted it here before how I feel today about the Boomers caving in to their elders in the end and today we are to blame for how things have turned out - but only for today, not for what took place in the late '70s. The WW2 generation was far worse to this planet and its people than the Boomers ever were, the Boomers were just more of a disappointment in the end, since we started out so strong in our youth, only to wither away and be no better than our elders. So shame on us today, but not when the Clash was putting us down - and the Clash were Boomers too.
To manny on your comments about the Clash being the best of their bunch.... I guess that depends if you limit it to punks only. But what about the Pretenders? They were a much better band and musicians than the Clash, but were they punks or just New Wave? People have called them both. I guess they were a bit of both, but you can also throw in that they were Classic Rock too, they really were all 3.
