Lol Pluto, time to reinforce DA here: The Doors were somewhat of a pub band in the beginning I suppose, and they surely had a little luck along the way (didn't they all?), but they made their own kind of magic and worked hard for their success in spite of their [admittedly] poor musicianship. What I mean by that is that Jim was a rudimentary vocalist in terms of knowledge and training, and the rest of the Doors were not nearly as good as labelmates Love and especially the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, let alone most of the west-coast and/or London bands of the time. But they had lyrics, imagery, and a powerful presence, a magic of sorts to be sure. They had vision they worked hard in spite of the many challenges brought to bear by Jim's behavior. In fact, you could almost argue that any luck that was involved with the Doors was the BAD luck of Jim, which they managed to negate for several years before finally being done in by his death.
Yes, there is and always will be much more to the Doors than just Jim Morrison himself and Light My Fire...
