Yeah JF let us know how that one goes,old Jack is obviously not a man who is easily impressed. Makes you wonder though that he wasn't impressed by 'She Loves You' or 'I Want to Hold Your Hand', or even 'Revolver' when it came out in 66. I think just about every one of his contemporaries were. Certainly Marty Balin was, and I think generally the Airplane( good band that they were) were inspired by the Beatles. They were not alone in that.

I reckon when you come to do your study you'll find that from the sixties down to the present day, it's the Beatles who will be quoted most by rock musicians (their influence of course wasn't just confined to music, but permeated into just about every area of popular culture, and defined a whole era) when it comes to naming quality, musicianship and inspiration. That would just be the start of it.
