Sorry Sway I know you don't want to say anymore on this but....a couple of posts seem to have vanished from this thread.....one of Keno's and one of mine, gremlins no doubt....anyway in mine I was saying how interesting this thread was, and how it had given me reason to nose about and learn a bit about police protocol vis a vis the use of firearms....I don't know if there was a racial element to the shooting in Ferguson, even if subsequent events have shown that many clearly do think that....what I can't understand is why, even if as you say police officers are trained to shoot to kill in these situations, did Brown end up with three bullets in his head(if that was indeed the case), over and above other gunshot wounds? To me that very strongly suggests a police officer who has lost control.
I agree with you that Brown's behaviour in the store could properly be described as thuggish. I don't know if that behaviour in any way played a part in the police officers thinking when he took the action he did, I hope not. Thuggish behaviour is one thing, gunning down an unarmed youth in the street is another.
