RE: RE: FERGUSON, MO (NSC)

Did someone say this man was shot six times, and three of those shots were to his head!?

I know that there are differences between here and there, because most British Police Officers don't carry, and are not trained in the use of firearms. I would have thought however that there would be similarities between the U.K. and the U.S. in Police guidelines regarding operational use of firearms.

Here, if an officer uses his firearm(the criteria for using applies), the authorised shot is an incapacitating one to the central mass of the body. The threat has to then be re assessed, and a decision made as to whether or not another shot is justified. The only time a shot to the head is allowed, as far as I know, is when the standard incapacitating shot to the body would risk detonating a bomb attached to the suspect.

If things happened the way you are saying SV, then I would agree with you, the Officer should not have approached the suspect without back up. Six shots into an unarmed man, three of which were to the head, would seem to me excessive, and surely illegal.

The Police are accountable like the rest of us.Imo that Officer should have been charged , and had to justify his actions in a Court of Law. I'm not surprised people are protesting across the U.S.
