RE: RE: RE: Who's play slide on Jig-Saw Puzzle?

Anybody got any thoughts?

Well it's clear that a few do on this song, and what you note is interesting about Brian and the problems he had by 1968, that being, he was starting to have a hard time in the studio playing guitar and was switching to other instruments to play instead. I never totally believed this, as one only has to listen to NE. Brian was just not happy in just being a guitar player and liked to play other instruments. But this is what gets me to those of you who keep saying, including in this thread, that it couldn't have been Brian playing slide on JP because Brian was this superb slide player who would not play a sloppy slide like what we hear on JP, so it had to be Keith who played the slide. Yet these very same Gassers in another thread (well this one too) would be the first to point out how messed up Brian was in '68 and how sloppy he played, to the point where the Glimmers didn't plug him in. So when this is stated - well, was he this expert slide player who never could have played in a sloppy way like we hear on JP, or, was he this messed up sloppy guitar player by '68 who couldn't play guitar in the studio like he once did just a few years back? I guess the old saying of "you can't have it both ways" might fit here, but it doesn't, since yes, in this case, you can have it both ways. As Mick stated more than once, by '68 they didn't know which Brian was gonna show up in the studio from session to session.... So what you note Mr pluto is correct! More than likely, on the day Brian recorded the slide for JP, he wasn't having an "on" day, yet 2 months later, when he sat down with the entire band to start making music on NE, he was fine, as noted by MJ.

Anyway, I've grew tried of this old debate on this song a few years back, so I'll close and move on with this.... Just like those of you who think it's Keith playing can't prove it is since you weren't there and have no proof, well I can't prove it's Brian playing the slide either - for the very same reason! But Stu was there, and my different insiders seem to be correct in most of the stuff they tell me, so I'll believe my ears, my insiders, and Stu, that it is Brian playing on the song.
