Hey, I've been that guy looking out for my friends and making sure they were safe. I'm not talking about so much as getting a girl out of her mind, but guys have used alcohol with women for years to get laid. Just enough to make a bad decision or two. Women know what the score is there, and on more than one occasion one of my friends said, "It's cool, I like this guy," and if she was in control, let her go. If she's a bit too far gone, get the guy's number for her.
My problem with these women now is that there's no legal solution available to them after all this time, and I don't know what their end game is. They should have done something long ago. At this point in the game they aren't helping anyone, but I have a feeling we'll see someone selling a book or Lifetime movie.
That's something I have a problem with, because the media is a lousy place to try to defend yourself. Just read comments below - he should have said something to defend himself, because it makes him look more guilty. So he's already judged guilty. If he defends himself outside of court, it's only going to make him look worse and worse. If he says he didn't do it, then the talking heads on TV will say he's lying. If he says it was consensual, then he's lying. If he doesn't remember the girls, then he's lying. The only thing he can do is admit guilt and perform some kind of penance for TV.
I may be defending a real piece of crap, but I believe innocent until proven guilty is a good thing. He doesn't have to defend himself from things that won't go to court, and the damned if you do damned if you don't attitude means he can't even sick lawyers on them to make them stop the accusations, because then he's playing into their hands. If he did this, he should have went to jail. If all those women never said a word for decades, then they kind of suck, too. Because then they let it happen to other women.
