What can he say to defend himself? You can ruin a man's life with just the accusations of sex crimes. Hell, even here, which is pretty progressive as a whole, people are saying, "If there's that many women, there must be something." Innocent until accused is the way things seem to be now.
I don't know much about the story, as I haven't read it and I don't think I will. At this point, I think Cosby isn't a threat to anyone, and I can't see one good reason for the women to come out now. You may find it crass, but there was a time when it certainly wasn't considered odd to try get a girl drunk enough that she'd have sex with you. Hell, that was some guys' entire game! But no one was getting roofied. So now people think that's deplorable, and it really is, but it takes time for things to change. If the allegations are true, then that sucks. If they aren't, nothing happens to the women except that they get some spotlight.
And there's the dilemma. It's bad that we make it so difficult for the victims of rape to come forward. But when they lie, it ruins a man's life. I don't know what the middle ground is, as I don't think it's good for victims to fear reprisals, but what about the men who have their lives ruined?
