SV, every point you make is completely valid, and I understand that part of things. My problem with what's going on in this case is that he can't defend himself. Now, if he didn't do anything, then what's his recourse? Don't get me wrong, I'm not thinking this is a totally innocent man being railroaded. Yeah, he may have no recourse, but those women felt they didn't have any back then, either.
But one woman did take him to court. She took him to civil court, and came to a settlement. At that time they said they planned to bring thirteen women up to testify. So why didn't someone do something? Besides sue him? It's the victim's right to pursue whatever resolution she thinks best, but that's fourteen women and they were ready to testify, I wonder what happened?
I don't want to come across sounding like some caveman. I'm not. I've got more than one female friend that has enjoyed the kind of "private" life that make a guy like George Clooney look like a 7th grade Catholic School boy, and they're totally kick ass women that I respect and admire and am proud that they consider me a friend.
What frustrates me most about this is that at a time when they could have done something more meaningful about this, they didn't come forward. I understand why and I don't like it. It's certainly a lot different when you're the one putting your career on the line. I wouldn't pretend to know anything about how it feels to feel that incapable of doing something. Then I'm frustrated by the fact that what happens now is that the media sets about crucifying a guy and his family with it, and there will be no resolution. No court, no jail, no one gets anything. And I realize the odds are slim, but what if he didn't do it?
The whole thing is rotten, and I don't have any answers, all I have are questions. Questions that won't be answered, but I'll certainly see a media circus, and a lot of people that are paid to act indignant do their jobs. The whole thing pretty much makes me sick.
