The intelligent thing would be to block all flights going into and out of africa until any potential threat to the public in all unaffected countries is minimal.
At first, before I read up on how hard it is to transmit this, I felt the same way as you do, but not for the entire continent of Africa (that would be overkill), but just the one country where this problem exists. But now I see it's very hard to spread, so I don't even support that, but do support checking 100% of all passengers on planes from Libya, which they aren't doing even now.
My next door neighbor and good friend, Kofi, who is the lead singer and leader of this nationwide known Reggae band called "the Jah Kings" (look them up if you like) had a family member who was visiting her family in Africa, nowhere near Libra, yet some people, who I also know, made a big deal of her coming back here simply because she was in Africa. That in turn caused problems in our little, but very liberal town. So it's really sad that even people who seem to be in the know, aren't on this. People on both sides of the political spectrum are scarred, yet it is only the republicans - along with the national news networks, who are starting all of this BS, and it is BS to start a false scare like they always do. As a person who studied meteorology and is the local weatherman and official government record keeper for the NWS for this area, it always gets to me how the national news media always - on every chance they get, go overboard every time there's just a change for a storm somewhere in the country. You would think the country was about to have the storm of the century half the time they report a new storm coming in when it's clear to us in the know that it's just another average storm. It's like that hurricane in the Alinitic right now, for days they made like it might hit the east coast and they were warning people about this, when we in the know - knew the storm was never a threat to the east coast and would stay way off shore.
