Absolutely. There seems to be a lot of "chicken little" mentality around this issue. That and the very real politicization by right-wing Republicans, who in their most recent feeding frenzy might wish to reconsider the budget cuts that they supported and Congress have made to the CDC over the past decade. Consequently, Canada and not the U.S. is in the lead for developing an Ebola vaccine. There are long-standing protocols in place for containing this disease, and if breached they can certainly put the affected health care worker and those around them at risk. Scare tactics feed ignorance and will not benefit public safety one iota. Unfortunately, the politicians out trolling for votes are not the ones who have a defensible track record for supporting public health, nor can they be counted on to help in the future.
