Personally I think it's somewhat simpler - they tried to target a football stadium, they didn't get inside, so they went somewhere else nearby. Or maybe they just had random targets planned
I disagree. This was a very carefully planned and coordinated attack. We were just very lucky that the terrorists who targetted the stadium weren't able to get inside, or the death toll would have been much, much greater. A stadium packed with 80,000 fans watching a football game! It would have been a worst massacre than what happened at the Bataclan.
The stadium and the Bataclan were anything but random targets. All those terrorists blew themselves up, except for one at the Bataclan who was shot dead before he could detonate (the explosives went off when he hit the ground.) The restaurants and coffee shops could have been picked at random, with those terrorists just wandering those streets where there are plenty of this type of places and shooting at the ones they happened upon. But their actions were as carefully plan as the rest of what happened on that night.
However, even if there had been good security at the venue - the security people would've been shot and they'd have entered the building - they're trained military people.
Agreed. No amount of security could have prevented what happened. Remember the Charlie Hebdo editor: he had an armed bodyguard "protecting" him 24/7. That poor man simply became the first victim that day. Any security personnel trying to guard the Bataclan's entrances would have been shot and killed.
