Another Gasser also made this comment, and maybe you both are right. But that would mean that this thing was planned around the concert and not the soccer game, something I have a hard time believing. Also, it wasn't about the US, it was about France. The people who were killed were, for the most part, ordinary French citizens, most of them young, enjoying a Friday night out on the town, taking in a concert or a sporting event, or enjoying a meal in a restaurant.
For anyone who understands enough French to follow a radio interview, here is one of the hostages from the Bataclan telling his story. He was hiding and the terrorists found him but they spared his life because he negociated with them.
After the 30-second video ad, there is another ad which is from the radio station. If you want to skip it, start listening at 45 seconds.
There are two videos, but the second one is actually an introduction to the first. Not sure why they were flipped flopped like that.
