I agree with much of what you wrote Teiz. However the R&R Circus is not a myth. The Who blew The Stones away that night. It's clear as day on the dvd!

You Really Got Me shows a level of nasty hard rock that no other band could touch in 1964. It's really amazing to think it's from that year.

And I'm sure The Beatles were jealous of a song like Waterloo Sunset. Or the sheer beauty and majesty of a song like Days.
