... we are not talking about the last 40 years, only the '60s. The Beatles didn't exist as a working band after early 1970, so you can't even compare them anymore after that point in time.
Also to those who are bringing up live shows. Yes, the Stones have always been the best of that - but again, not until starting in 1969, when sound equipment started to improve. Up till that time, both the Beatles and Stones had played live about the same about of times and both had the same problems that all bands had back then had: shitty equipment, girls screaming so loud that they could not even hear themselves play, and both bands were learning the ropes (as were all rock bands), as to just what you could do out there playing live. So it is totally unfair to compare the two bands as far as playing live goes. Knowing how great the Beatles were, had they stayed together, you can bet they would had toured again in the '70s and would had been as great live as the Boys.
