No match Live

and even though they burned up the world again in 1977, 1978, 1979, 1981 and 1982, the live years of 69-73 is what makes them the THE GREATEST ROCK N' ROLL BAND THAT EVER WALKED THE EARTH.

First, you seem to be leaving out 1975 & 1976 in that statement. And I am not sure they really did enough live performing in 1979 for it to be listed.

I definitely agree with the point that the Stones shined as live again, something the Beatles never really did. I have no doubt that the Beatles could put on a great live show. They just never managed to mount a successful world tour to meet the demands of their world wide fan base in their last few years together. Fortunately they did a roof top concert.... otherwise U2 wouldn't have had anything to copy twice in their own career.

The Stones are a different story. Begin in 1969, they ushered in the modern tour format that is now common in the entire industry. And they really continued to deliver new advents to the logistic of modern touring through the years. Well it could have been someone else.... including the Beatles had they stayed together, it was the Stones that would show the industry how it was to be done.

And I wouldn't even stop at 1982, even the touring in later years has had an impact on the music industry. Nobody questions if a major act that is now in their 50's is out touring. That was never the case for the Stones. Even in 1989, when most of the band wasn't even in their 50's it was commonly suggested they were too old. Did anyone publically suggest this of Michael Jackson before he dropped dead last week? Bruce Springsteen is only a few years younger then the Stones and I've never heard anyone questioning his ability to perform live.

Just like Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, the Stones live performances & tours helped create an entirely new aspect of the entertainment industry Ronnie!
