RE: RE: The Stones On Tour-No Big Deal Anymore???

First off. I'm baaaaacccckkk (after a too-long hiatus). Gunner, you make a great point about what mass popularity can do to a person's mind and, let's face it, Mick and Keith have been in a "different" world since they were in their '20s. As such, I think they REALLY believe their shit doesn't stink...and a LOT of fans let them get away with behavior that's unacceptable for a "normal" person (as in the way the Glimmers treat other people).

I also agree with Keno (and Mikeeder) about losing my admiration of the Glimmers. I never was that fond of Mick 'cause I always thought he was a control freak but, after reading Keith's book and Trynka's book, I lost a LOT of respect for Keith, too. I mean, a person in his position should NOT have trashed his bandmates the way he did. If not for them, what would Keith have done with his life? I REALLY doubt he would have become a rich and famous rock star without the other members of the band.

As for both Mick and Keith...if even HALF of what Trynka's book revealed is the truth, their treatment of Brian was APPALLING. Yes, Brian could be (and was) a difficult person and a pain in the ass but, once again, Mick and Keith would not be where they are now without Brian Jones. I suppose the same could be said (and was said in Trynka's book) about Charlie and Bill, because they just sat by and watched it all go down without saying anything. They ALL should give thanks they ever met Brian and not trash his contributions to the band.

The same thing can be said about Mick and Keith's treatment (perhaps to a lesser extent)of Bill and MT. They both made HUGE contributions to the band, yet they seem to be treated as merely "back-up" musicians nowadays by Mick and Keith. I sometimes wonder if we'll hear some "revisionist" shit about Stu soon or, if Charlie should die before them, will Mick and Keith merely say, "oh, he was an OK drummer, but we would have become huge without him."

Thus, although I, much like Keno, still love the band...for me, the "glimmer" has been removed from the Glimmer Twins. And, I think this might all go back to the whole "mass popularity" thing and how it's probably fucked up their minds. They may be in their '70s now but, to me, Mick and Keith really seem to be immature boys who never grew up to be "men".

OK, rant off. LOL!!

C(I still love ya, Ronnie!)R
