RE: The Stones On Tour-No Big Deal Anymore???

Well, I guess it depends on what you compare it to. Like others have said, it was a bigger deal a couple years ago because it was their 50th anniversary. But this time around, it's just another tour.

I'll be honest, when I heard they were touring again, my reaction was, "Oh, The Stones are touring again. Cool."

However, back when I found out Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd was reuniting for one show, or the surviving members of Nirvana were getting together to play songs for the Rock Hall of Fame, my reaction was more like: "OH MY GOD! THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER!!!"

But that's because Led Zeppelin hasn't toured since the 70s. Roger Waters and David Gilmour weren't talking to each other until that Live Aid show. Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic haven't even PLAYED Nirvana songs since Kurt Cobain died. So when you hear these reunion stories come up, they're a big deal, because it's a story you've been waiting for all this time.

As much as I love The Stones, I even saw them over ten years ago, loved the show, they've been consistently touring every few years for the past 50 years. Obviously, they didn't do much touring in the 80s, but that's why the STEEL WHEELS tour was a bigger deal. People were waiting for it, so it got a lot of publicity. It probably gets as much buzz as tours for The Eagles or Van Halen. But hell, when The Eagles first reunited back in the 90s, or David Lee Roth joined Van Halen, it was a big deal!

I do agree with you about the overpriced tickets. Everything is overpriced these days. I'd love to see The Stones live again, but I don't have the money. The concert I saw was FREE!

And I DEFINITELY don't think this is some sort of karma thing. Hell, I think karma's been pretty kind to Keith all these years, considering all the shit he's been through with drugs and whatnot. Weak press or not, The Stones are still selling out stadiums, still rocking out into their 70s, they're rich beyond their wildest dreams, who cares if Bruce Jenner's getting more press than their tour?!
