RE: The Stones On Tour-No Big Deal Anymore???

You seemed to cover several different things here, one, are the Stones still drawing attention by the press?... are the Stones' still the great band they used to be?.... plus are they still good people and are they still worth going to see?

To the first thing I disagree with you. The Stones are still drawing the press big time, and for being around well past 50 years now, that's news in itself. If anything, on the last 2 US tours before this one, they didn't seem to sell out everything as fast as in the past, yet this time around they seem to be doing that again. They are still big news, no question in my mind about this!

Are they charging too much for tickets? Well yes, they are, and most fans agree with you on this, but we can't change this either. Just because a handful of tickets for low prices is available for a short time frame, doesn't mean they are being fair to their fans, as they aren't. I'm happy for 2000 Man that he got those rare cheap seats, but he was lucky and most fans aren't. But high ticket prices and the Stones is old news, which I'm tired of taking about to be honest.

Are the Glimmers still good people and are they fair to their fellow members, former members, and their fans? Well I still feel overall they are good people, but they also got a major problem with identifying with their true fans, and they treat their older fans who made them big, like crap, as they treat their former band mates in the very same way. How anybody can say that they haven't mistreated Brian, Bill, or MT after they left the band, and in the rude matter which they clearly have, and say that isn't so, is very hard for me to figure out. No disrespect to my fellow fans, but you got your head in the sand if you believe that. No, I don't mean to be rude to the Gassers who feel this way, but I'm sorry, you got blinders on if you can't see the mistreatment, as it's clear as day to many of us. Love is blind after all for some, be it in this case for the fans who don't see the light. Mick of late hasn't been that bad with what he says about Brian, but for the most part, he never talks about the guy anymore. Keith, well you all have heard the total bullshit lies that has come out of his mouth since the mid '90s when he talks about BJ. He in turn has lost many of his fans because of this false talk.... For MT, I think the problem is more, or maybe 100%, MJ and not Keith. The way he was treated on the last tour, when up on stage, was flat out wrong and terrible - to both the fans, and to MT. I said it once and I'll say it again, it's better that MT is no longer on tour with them now than having him play on only 2 songs per a show that he didn't even record with them.... For Bill, we saw the same problem, only allowing him to play on 2 songs for the 50th anniversary show was totally wrong, and then they had the balls to invite him along to do that shit again? Bill was shown zero respect at that one show, as was MT, only difference was, MT needed the money and took them up on their terrible offer, while Bill took the high road and walked away. Good for Bill I say! If they didn't really want them 2 back in the band in the first place, they never should had offered them what they did, as that was insulting to both of them. You really think MT liked that shit? He didn't, but he needed the cash so he did it.

As far as us fans go, there are still the hard-nosed fans who can't ever see any wrong in what the Stones do - period. That's cool and I would guess half of us Gassers are this way. But the other half of us do see major problems in the Glimmers. If we have the balls to call them out for this, then at least one Gasser here had the balls to suggest that we aren't true fans, or fans at all! This person flat out said last year I wasn't a fan, in what was one of the most stupidest things ever written here! I still haven't gotten over that stupid remark today. It is true that I'm not a keen fan of the Glimmer Twins today, how could any true Stones fan be when you hear and see the shit they dish out today? Plus I have admitted this many times in then past here, but that doesn't mean I'm not a Stones fan anymore either. I just don't care for the present day Glimmers putting down or mistreating their former mates over and over again. When they do this, it is they who are putting down the Stones (not me), and IMO, to say Keith is the biggest Stones fan today is total crap, as a true Stones fan just doesn't put down his mates in the band, not in that matter - ever! I at least admit I'm not a big fan of the Glimmers today, but that doesn't take away my love of their music, or my love of them from the past.

Just the other day, I took down my oldest poster of the Glimmers, which was up in my bedroom and which I first placed on my bedroom wall way back in 1971 or so. It had been lost for the 20 years I lived in my old house before this one, and 13 years ago when I move it showed up again to my surprise, and back up it went on the wall, even though it was not in the best of shape. I could lie here and say I took it down the other day because of the bad shape it's in, but the truth was, I took it down because those 2 guys who existed back then are no more. Sure, everybody is gonna change a bit in 43 years, but I can't say I'm a fan of the current Glimmers today, so why keep them up on my wall? I still love and like the Rolling Stones today, and I'll love and like them to the day I die! Plus I still love the Glimmers today, but I no longer like them and who they have become, which are 2 guys who have forgotten their past and where they came from. Plus MJ is a phony to his real fans today. So on this count, I totally agree with Mike.

I decided a long time ago that I would stop my negative posts here about the Glimmers, and I did that a bit, but not totally. I feel bad about posting in such a matter, but then they go and do something stupid again, or something from their past few years reminds me of who they are today, and then there I go again and I put them down. That just happen in the poll post Sunday nite, well in my reply the next day anyway, when I was reminded about how they took Bill out of the album photo. I just hate that side of them!... So, should the webmaster of their largest fan web site and longest running web board be this way? Well, I can't be somebody else, and if the actions of the Glimmers do this to me, should I just be phony and not be myself? No, I can't be anything but myself - but - should I hold back on how I feel? Well I've tried a bit, but I can't totally, 100% do that, I only can a bit. But it ins't like the Stones pay me to do this either. I owe them nothing, but I do feel like they still own us long time fans from the '60s something, and they do, regardless of what a few of you think. I have said I'm tired of running this board by myself, and I am. I'm at the normal retirement age and would love to have somebody take over 90% of the work here for me, but as I already noted, the admin isn't set up to where more than one person could run this joint in that matter. So I guess for now things will remain as they are, but I still feel I need to tone down my dislike towards the current Glimmers if I'm gonna keep runnig this joint in the future. So I'll just keep trying to do that, although writing a reply like this one doesn't help any, I guess.

As far as seeing the Stones again in the future... Well, I really don't want to see them again, not this current lineup anyway, at least, not at the current prices they charge. I can now get the best seats in the house for them, but I can't afford the prices, and they just don't put on as great a show as they once did - they are past 70, how could they? Well, having MT and BW up there with them would help big time, and if MT was still touring with them AND - really playing with them, then I would say they would be worth seeing one last time. But that isn't the case today, so I more than likely will never see them again. I'm actually hoping that they don't announce more dates with a show nearby me, since I don't want to cross that bridge should this happen. The true Stones fan in me will still want to go see them when the date gets near - even with the current lineup only, but my wallet will say no regardless - long before that date grows near. But if anybody wants to buy me a front row ticket, I'll be there in a jumpin' jack flash!

But for me anyway, the bottom line is, yes, I still do love the Stones, that's a damn fact, Ronnie!
