RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Reply to Pluto

Since I never been a "Lord of the Rings" fan and know little about the story and only saw the first half hour of the film, I never got the greatness of it. But I did understand that it was a real big thing, even if it wasn't my cup of tea... So I do get your drift on that. Yet instead, a better comparison, going by really great movies (since that's where you were coming from), for me perhaps would be me being forced to write an entire script for a feature film about Fredo, when I would have preferred to have written the entire script for "The Godfather" instead. Although with that noted, it wasn't so much that I didn't want to write a book about the Stones, they are and been my favorite band since they came to America in 1964. It was more so that when I was asked to write said book, I already been writing about the Stones at the time (2005), daily for more than 10 years online (hell, before I started Gasland in '98), so it wasn't something new for me to get excited about writing, nor was it a challenge, although I still did learn a bit more about the band that I didn't expect to learn, thanks to all of the new insiders (and others whom I already knew) from the band who I got to talk to over the phone (and a couple in person).

So that was the only part in doing research for the book that was cool. Then again, and I noted this here many years ago, was that I was told 2 real, never told true stories about a couple of the Stones that the persons whom I spoke to, would only tell me the stories if I promised not to reveal said stories in my book. These were 2 insiders whom I had known beforehand, and I guess that's why both told me what they did. They knew me already, and knew that if I was told by them not to say a word to anybody, I won't, as they had trust in me. So while such stories would have made my book that much better, there wasn't anyway I would have published what I was told, and of course, I never did. Yet one of these insiders who I spoke to, is now deceased, but I still promised him what I did, and while I know he can't be affected by what he told me years earlier anymore, a promise is a promise, and since he didn't say to me something along the lines of 'after I'm dead and gone, you can repeat this story....;, well then, I still can't. I made my promise to him and will take it to the grave (that was one thing I learned early on while writing in the newspaper business, a secret source is just that - forever, unless they say otherwise later on). Plus there are just some things that fans don't need to know about, anyway. Yet as I noted here many years ago about this very same subject - in a big way I would have preferred now that instead I had never been told and had heard these stories in the first place.
