Unlike their heroes The Beatles, Oasis quickly lost momentum and resorted to nasty snide remarks regarding their fellow musicians in order to stay in the public eye. Professional jealousy perhaps? I think so. Oddly enough, I saw them on MTV unplugged some years back in a somewhat uncharacteristic mode. Liam had laryngitis and sat out the show, and Noel took on the lead vocals, sounding much better than his brother does. And since he had to concentrate on singing, he kept the guitar simple and rhythmic, which was also a good move since the guy can't play lead to save his life. That was the element where the early songs sounded pretty good, and they should have built on it.
