The Last Time and Bittersweet Symphony

Yes, they had to pay the Loogster, the Kleinster, and probably others, and it was a shafting. Everybody who is anybody sane knows that's an awesome Verve song despite its dubious Jagger/Richards credits. (And especially when you consider that The Last Time itself is pretty much a rip off the Staples Singers!!!!!) Even if Mick and Keith themselves were not really involved (just the lawyer peeps) it is still galling since the greedy corporate cows just wanted to cash in on the brilliance of the Verve, and then did, selling it all over the place in movies and commercials.

After just writing, I did a quick search and found a lovely little video that succinctly tells the whole story, with sound bits and comparisons and all the info you need. I didn't know it existed, but if anyone is curious it is a fascinating example of music and rights and corporate nuttiness!
