The Verve were a wickedly good band, but not because of Urban Hymns. While great, it is half the album that A Northern Soul is, which itself is half the album that A Storm in Heaven and their early songs/EPs were. I've mentioned them here before and I probably will never stop. They obviously set the tone for the Radioheads and Coldplays---and Oasis clearly knew how good they were. I still don't know why they weren't even bigger (at least in the States), especially with songs like All in the Mind and Gravity Grave to kick-start their career...what a band!
