Hey 2k man, what are some examples of things that sound better to you on vinyl or CD? I'm curious. And what do you think of certain "remastering" jobs, like the histories of All Things Must Pass, or Layla? Are the originals of those albums better on vinyl? In general, is there a lot more variability to 60s albums for you when it comes to CD/vinyl preference?
For me, I had literally 4 albums on vinyl in high school that I listened to on my parents system, and then I had a liberal sprinkling of things on cassette tape as well. Some of that stuff to this day is not fully satisfying to me on CD but some of it is, and that is regardless of the system I'm playing it on (or headphones). Perhaps some of it is just my own personal memory and eardrums playing a unique role in things...
In the last 10 years have accumulated about 25-30 used vinyl albums, none of which have been played yet because the purchase of my first stereo system w/turntable keeps getting pushed back, and back, and back again! I guess they are mostly souvenirs for me, and I'm looking forward to having fun with it eventually, but I know I might very well prefer the CDs I have of some of those albums to the vinyl I have purchased.
