RE: to 2000 Man on vinyl

Hey, I admire your passion and I'm with ya when it comes to vinyl. I almost always buy my music on vinyl, and I go months at a time with the CD player unplugged. However, I DO believe in science and the Nyquist Theorem and a correctly produced CD with a talented production crew and the right recording equipment will sound great. Every bit as good as any vinyl record. I have my own theories about why people seem to like records these days, and I'm really glad people are listening to them and buying them again, but think about other media.

I love books. I have a Kindle. I thought the Kindle would sit idle most days. I almost never buy a book anymore. The Kindle is fantastic and I love it.

All of us like movies. Almost all of us just stream them from Netflix, Amazon or our cable provider. i just saw the whole series of Weeds the other day at Best Buy for 14 bucks. A whole series always used to be well over 100 dollars, no matter what show. But for most people, streaming it is easier.

Those are not my favorite things, though. Music is my favorite and I'm more than willing to bear the time and expense of owning and maintaining a vinyl collection. I have a friend who has thousands of books. He cleared out his music and just uses Spotify. He has more room for books, and the music sounds "pretty good" to him. He still likes to come here now and then and get me to turn up some rock n' roll because all his sound stuff sounds "surprisingly good." As in, "for something so small that sounds pretty great."

People here are music fans, but they all listen differently. The common thread here is The Stones, and anyone that's Stones fan enough to look for other people on the Internet to talk to about them, is A-OK in my book. It's hard to write humor, and it certainly doesn't always come through here. Believe me, I get it, my foot has been in my mouth more than once!

BUT - if you wanna talk vinyl, I'm totally cool with that. You buy a bootleg? Tell us about it. You just pull out an old pressing of IORR and have something to say, say it here! You even wanna talk gear, I'll get in on that. Hell, you wanna talk a LOT? I can type a long winded post with the best of them!
