RE: Soundboards & Audience Recordings

I believe a great barometer of a bands fan base is the sound quality of the audience sourced boots. How many listenable audience sourced Led Zeppelin boots have you heard?

That is an interesting POV. I've never heard a Zep audience recording because I'm a casual Zep fan at best and by now you know what I think of audience recordings.

There probably are some decent Allman Brothers audience recordings because they used to have a place near the stage where fans could tape their shows. I think the Grateful Dead did the same thing, so there must be some nice recordings of them, too.

Otherwise, a good idea is to look for recordings by Dan Lampinski, who had acess to good spots near the stage through connections. He also had superior recording equipment. In the years since, his recordings have also been enhanced and remastered. He was East-coast based but I believe that there also was a guy on the West coast doing pretty much the same thing.
