Brussels and Leeds were both recorded for broadcast. Intended to be heard. I don't find them sterile either. When I refer to a sterile sound board, I'm generally referring to a recording that was done by plugging a recorder directly into the sound reinforcement. no feel of the venue. No audience vibe. Those 1966 sound boards? All broadcasts. A couple of sterile examples gassers may have heard, Perth 73, France 76, Passaic NJ 78, I could go on and on. A great example of what I'm trying to convey is to compare the audience recording of the 1979 C.N.I.B benefit to the soundboard.( Both widely circulated.)I will take the audience recording every time. MOTB stands for Mouth Of The Beast. A term that means a recording done from a sweet spot in a venue. There are indeed many great audience recordings out there. Especially now that technology has given us such impressive recording options.
