Oh okay, got it, HR. Welcome to New York '72 is a good example of this, too, at least for me, what I'm the most familiar with. Half of it is super rough to listen to, audience I believe, but it still has "presence," and echo, the sound of the space inside MSG, and the crowd sounds, which yes, are all vitally important. The other half is stupendous soundboard quality but totally weird to listen to, so claustrophobic and sterile.

Btw, this makes me wonder if anyone prefers bootleg Brussels to the "official" 2011 Brussels? And I'm mostly talking about Brown Sugar, Midnight Rambler, and Street-Fighting Man, the only actual performances that are exactly the same on both. Because as good a job they did with those songs there are still tangible differences on playback when you compare them to the longtime bootleg sources.
