I'm sure that part is for real! But then again, I never thought too deep about this, either. Didn't they use that bit again years later on another LP?? For some reason I'm thinking they did, but maybe I'm wrong.
But the Stones changing things in the studio to live cuts does suck, I never liked that, if it isn't good enough, then don't release it! This is the opposite to live lip-synching, which is just as bad.
I'll always remember the BS MJ said about the Rock n Roll Circus and why it was never shown for so many years. He claimed it was never shown because the Stones didn't play well, when they clearly did. I had the boot for years before it came out and knew it was a great show. They just never showed it because they got rid of Brian soon after. So when it finally came out many years after, other than on one song, NE, Brian's live guitar was edited out and replaced with some BS studio guitar. This was when I started to realize that the Glimmer were full of shit, as on the boot I had, you can hear Brian's guitar clearly, and his playing sounded just fine! There was no reason for them to edit out his playing, none at all, especially so many years later. It was as if they felt, well we told a lie back in 1968, so now we have to cover up that lie once again today. One last interesting note on the Circus, you all have seen how wonderful Brian played on NE, yet in early 1969 when the first edit was being made, according to RS Mag, that song wasn't going to be shown at all! It was as good as a performance as any song they played that night, yet they weren't going to show it because it made Brian look good. Crap like this is why I lost so much love for the Glimmers back in the late '90s when I started to learn of all of this BS that they were doing back in the day. Don't get me wrong, I still love them, just no where as much as I used to, because of crap like this. I find I bitch a lot about them today, but hell, they did do all of this crap after all is said and done.
