Ya Ya's was indeed over dubbed.
So it is then not a true, 100% live album, and therefore, one can say that it's overrated, since that is not how they really sound live.
What stones live album isn't?...
I''m not sure, but doing this still sucks.
Keep in mind overdubs on live albums is common
Started by the Stones I believe. If they didn't start it, they were one of the first to do this. But the bottom line is that when other artists go on live TV and lip-synch, most Gassers and most other fans give them shit for doing it, and should. Yet when the Stones do what is really the same thing on a live album (in this case the singing is real but not the guitar parts), most here seem to think that's okay. Why is it okay for the Stones to do this but when other artists lip synch on live TV, that isn't okay? It's faking something, or making people who aren't in the know, be fooled. When Ya Ya's first came out I didn't know it wasn't 100% live, and I felt cheated afterwards. I still feel that it's cheating today when it's done and I don't care who does it. It's selling a false product if you say it's live and it ins't 100% live. It would be like going to a food store and buying something that claims is 100% natural, and then after you eat it you find out artificial crap was also in the food. So I'll never understand why passing it off with saying that "other bands do this too" is acceptable to anybody, it sure isn't to me, you devils!
