When it comes to anything Keith Richards said or says about Brian Jones, there is one glaringly obvious fact that doesn't apply to yourself or anyone else here I suspect, and that is, he speaks with authority.
When Keith Richards talks about Brian Jones he isn't coming at it from what he's read in this book or that article etc, he is speaking with the authority of a man who lived and worked closely with Brian Jones over a number of years, he's a man who would be able to tell you what Brian's farts smelt like, so close was that association.
You might not like what Keith Richards has to say about Brian Jones, you might think and continue to brand him a liar etc, but when Keith Richards talks about Brian Jones he talks with the authority of having known him and having been there, you don't.
Does Keith speak with "authority" when he says he saw Muddy Waters painting the ceiling at Chess studios? We all know that Keith is one of the biggest revisionists around. I take anything he says not just with a grain of salt, but with the entire salt shaker. Especially when the other side of the story can no longer be heard.
The fact is that Keith has changed his tune about Brian over the years. Anyone who has read Mandy Aftel's Brian bio can see that Keith was saying nice things about Brian at the time he was inteviewed for the book.
So was Keith speaking with "authority" back then, or is he speaking with "authority" now? Because you cannot say that something is all black and that it is all white at the same time and be right on both counts.
