RE: A little contrition on my part

40% of a band claiming 99% of the credit over many years does not seem credible by any standard. In listening to the songs, one can discern who contributed what to the song structures. In the contest of a band, a song is not merely the lyrics and melody employed by one member (the lead vocalist). Take "Under My Thumb" for example. The strongest melodic contribution in that song is not the vocal line, which is actually quite ordinary compared to the lyrics themselves. It's the marimbas counter melody that truly gets the listeners attention. Without that ingredient it's a so-so filler, but Brian Jones contribution elevates it to another level altogether. Same for "Out of Time". Stepping outside the Stones' realm, Chris Farlowe's version of that song takes Brian's marimba intro / melodic riff a bit further and orchestrates it with strings in order to carry the song along. Again, take that part away and the song gets far less attention. Words are important, but melody and counter melody are equally so. I figure even ALO knew this, but he also had an agenda, the results of which have yet to be corrected.
