"But if there are no gods, why the need to bow?" LOL, exactly - you got me! It sounds mad-made to me. Lately I've been pondering a lot about all of the man-made things in society and how society has led us to believe we need these man-made things...but that is a different topic for another day.
Very interesting Keno - thanks for sharing. I sort of wish my parents were religious fanatics to have made us go to Church so I would have learned more. But then again, I'm sure I should just be happy they never forced that on me (that would have sucked you were forced into it). It could have made me an avid believer in some religion just because my parents made me go. Some of the religions are brainwashing imo. I remember some kids we would hang out with that their parents were fanatics (if they only knew what we were doing behind the scenes). One mom used to want to "save" me and my bf every time we visited her daughter. Half the time we would agree cause we were stoned lol! But I always wondered why we had to be saved when we are alive and well and save us from what?
Whenever I find some spare time, I will start with the Buddha religion first as it sounds a lot more up my ally than any of the others. I do believe in the afterlife and have a lot of great books on that subject and a lot of those beliefs follow Buddha. But not all - which is what I'm finding the more I learn of religions too - you can believe some of it to a point but after that, you ask yourself why do we have to believe it all or do these crazy rituals?
