Could you possibly imagine a video for Staiway to Heaven, Layla, Free Bird.
Hell no! I would not want such a video of any of those songs other than looking at live takes of them, no videos were ever needed or made in the first place for those gems. So I can see your point on this, yes, but then again - I can't. I saw the video for JJF not long after the song came out, and that video just made me like the song that much more! It didn't ruin the song at all for me. Or take "Undercover of the Night". It was just an okay song to me until I saw the video, then I loved the song - because of the great video! So sometimes a video makes a song better for me. But video have ruined songs for some, no question. Billy Squier claims the video made for his biggest selling song ever, "Rock me in the Night" (a great song) ended his career because of how the director of the video had him dressed up dancing in pink and his fans hated it.
