It's the video's that "tell a story" that I hate.
Ditto. And I hate them even more when someone took a perfectly serviceable performance video and turned it into a "story" video, the way The Doors did on one of their DVDs ("Dance on Fire" I think it's called). I want to see Jim sing "Wild Child" damnit, I don't want to see that Indian child running around. I'm not even sure what the "story" is supposed to be, Ronnie!
Not sure why the band got all made up for JJF, and what purpose the sailor suits and the bubbles are supposed to serve in the IORR vid, but those two videos ARE of the band performing the song.
I think that before wondering if story videos matter anymore, we should ask if they are still being made. I was never a fan of the Muchmusic channel (Canadian MTV) but I get the feeling that story videos were mainly an 80s and maybe a 90s thing and that the MTVs and Muchmusics of the world now show mostly other stuff.
