I think they probably matter even more. You may not see many, but YouTube is where most people go to search for new music. Sure, some of them are really bad fan videos, but some a lot of them are the real deal videos. How many millions of hits did Alan Thicke's kid get for his video with the topless girls? OK Go made an entire career out of a video of them fooling around on treadmills. They just aren't on TV anymore.
