There is hardly an area of anyone's life that is not dictated or influenced by politics if you think about it. Mostly people don't, they just get on with it. Of course an issue such as the break up of the U.K. was never going to be anything other than an issue that aroused strong feeling, hence the huge involvement and energised debate.

I hope that type of involvement in politics continues and we don't return to the sticking an X on a ballot paper(in ever decreasing numbers) every four years type of involvement. For too long people here have been turning their back on the democratic process, turned off by politicians.

You are right to say that Wales and N.I. have been making noises about more devolved power, but by far the biggest noise will come from England who's people make up the huge majority of the U.K. population. I have reservations over devolution, and I think the promises and timescale made by the leaders of the main U.K. parties to the Scottish electorate was ill advised especially from a Labour Party point of view. Should they fail to deliver all hell will break loose. Interesting times.

The trouble in the centre of Glasgow was a confrontation between, as far as I can tell, Rule Britannia type 'no' Loyalists and Scottish Nationalist/Irish Republican 'yes' supporters. Again as far as I can tell from what I have seen, the first missile was thrown by the 'yes' side. This landed in the Loyalist ranks as they entered the Square. The Loyalists charged, and from there it deteriorated. Doesn't really matter who threw the first bottle, the trouble would have happened anyway.

There is a large police presence in the centre of the city tonight again.
