I know exchanging child porn is illegal.
Not just exchanging it. In all 50 US states, just looking at or owning child porn is illegal.
I don't know if possessing it was one of the charges against MJ or not.
No, such charges were not ever made. He was never arrested for that because nothing illegal was ever found anywhere in his home or on his computer - both times his place was raided. That was what they were looking for, too. So he never at any time had any child porn in his home, nor was he ever charged with that. From what I recall reading after the trail ended, he had a couple of books (or mags?) found in his home that had photos of nude boys, but they were not child porn nor illegal, and they were returned to him after the trial.
I think the right verdict was made at that trail too, from what I read. That kid's mother was money hungry and I think that was well proven. She didn't seem to care about her son's welfare at all, even with his having cancer and all. Think about it, she knew her son was sleeping at night in the same room with Michael, and she allowed it! What kind of mother lets her kid sleep in the same bedroom with a unrelated man who was already accused years earlier of molesting another boy? IMO, had he really been messed with, and Michael been convicted, then she should had been charged too for allowing it to happen and putting her son in harms way.
