When I was in NYC in march I visited strawberryfields. Still, there are allot of people there putting flowers on the monument. It was busy round the monument all the time.
That is because Strawberry Fields basically serves as John Lennon's grave. There is no grave for fans to visit but that is really the one iconic spot being right across for the Dakota and where he was killed.
Also the Beatles have the benefit of collecting all the casual music fans. I've been to Strawberry Fields plenty of times and it is pretty clear that a good many people are just there because it is a major spot in Central Park.
