I'm, curious how much does full covereage cost per month over there for you's right now?
My brother is self employed and told me to that it cost him just over $16K per year to cover his family (wife & 2 kids). That is just for coverage.... he gets nothing else for that and still needs to make co-pays when he does see a doctor or gets any type of perscriptions.
I also heard from another friend that is also self employed that he pays about the same for his family of 4. They also offer health coverage to some of their employees and he said their insurance company jacked up the rate (30% increase) in the last three months and he now had to reduce some of the coverage he was providing as benefits.
I am fortunate enough to get coverage through work. It still costs me about $125/month. What I've really noticed over the years it what they simply do not cover anymore. Slowly everything is being taken away and my co-pays are going up. I even had a test for oral cancer that my dentist performed earlier this year that was not covered. I knew the initial test would not be covered. However, after a positive reading on the initial test, I full expected some coverage on the follow up test. To my shock, none of it was covered. I have to believe that if I actually had oral cancer that they would have paid for some of the treatment? But they weren't going to pay for anything that would ever tell me if I had a problem.
I will say this, as bad as this bill may sound at least the Democrats are trying to do something. The Republic position is to do absolutely nothing. They've offered no solution of their own and did absolutely nothing when they control the Congress. All they are trying to do is destroy this bill and keep the status quo.
