For me the difference between an arrangement or even musical enhancement is clearly different to a writi g crefit. For example Jimi Hendrix performs miracles with All Along the Wstchtower by Fylan...but the structure is still clearly a Dylan song. No way does Jimi desrbe a writing crefit. Similarly on the ONJ version of If Not For You the incredible steel guitar part improves thw song so much. But still no writing credit because the melody and words are already there. Bj does a great jpb on thr marimbas on UMT but the song is often played without them and its cleatly the same song. Like yesterday or elenor rigby without tje strings. And yes maybe keith just thought on the recordong that as the marimbas sounded good hed let his guitar take a back seat...but instructed brian how to play it.
