RE: : don't forget Bill!

A valid point, although a song is a song and Bill wrote quite a few of them over the years. It took Harrison a good long while to get to the point of creating songs as awesome as "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun", which were recorded toward the end of the Beatles' run. George was in a far better (and equitable) position than Brian, Bill, or Taylor ever were, having been encouraged by the band and their manager Brian Epstein to come up with material for the group. Validation and encouragement assist the creative process in no small measure. The GT's and ALO appear to have not solicited creative input from the others, but if and when they heard something they liked it was captured in the recording studio, but somehow didn't get "captured" as a co-writing credit. So who knows whether a departure from the "closed shop" mentality might have yielded some terrific results? I will acknowledge that "Ruby Tuesday" was a unique departure from the established songwriting norm, having Keith and Brian collaborating without Mick's involvement. It yielded a fine song and a huge hit, but after that it was back to "business as usual". The Anita thing could have been a factor in ending any further collaboration between the two, although since Brian never received a proper credit for "Ruby Tuesday", he would likely have been denied that for any subsequent songs as well.
