RE: RE: Ryan And Fox (nsc)

My point on Ryan and Fox is not that I consider either one of them a "great" coach, but that both are "good" coaches who are being portrayed as Terrible coaches in this thread. It simply is not true. There are other factors to consider when evaluating a teams success beyond who is head coach and the record of that team. For instance Keno wants Shanahan back as head coach of the Broncos. Mike Shanahan was 24-40 with the Redskins 2010-2013. That is a terrible record but is Shanahan a terrible coach? No. So why did Washington lose so many games under Shanahan? I say, "Fit". RG3 was a bad fit for Shanny's style of offense. He needs a great passer like Elway to be successful, not a running QB.

And that is why I think Ryan will succeed in getting Buffalo to the playoffs sooner than later. "Fit". The players who are there compliment his coaching philosophy. When he took the Jets to the AFC Championship game TWICE he did it with a suffocating Defense and a running game. With only a few tweaks from Ryan that is what they will have in a Big Way in Buffalo next season. I don't see a Super Bowl in their future but I do see the playoffs and the Bills have not made the playoffs since the '90s! Making the playoffs IS "success" for the Bills. And I think hiring Ryan will get them there. The Bills were close to making the playoffs this season.

You can't blame Fox for Manning's injury or his errant throws this past Sunday. Fox will have another Head Coaching job in the NFL before the Super Bowl in February. I guarantee it. He is a good head coach.

>Plus it was just reported today by the team that Manning had a torn right quadriceps for the last 5 games, exactly when his passes lost their zip. So he was playing hurt all of that time.<

It pleases me to hear this. I don't want Manning to retire if he can regain his former greatness or something close to it. I wrote, "Manning's passes have had no zip on them for well over a month now. It's either due to injury or he has hit a wall because of his age." I am happy to hear it was because of injury and not old age. And I hope he gets 100% injury free for the start of the 2015 season. The league is better and more interesting with him in the league. As long as he is healthy and playing well.

This week my Packers head into the "No Mans Land" of Seattle and Century Link Field. Already friends are telling me the Packers have no chance of coming out of there with a victory. But this is a different Packers team than the one that lost to the Seahawks in week one to start the NFL season. I believe the Packers have what it takes to beat Seattle and they are due to beat them. It will be a good game.
