RE: RE: RE: RE: Voices and sounds

Yes, I and I differ over 'Luxury'. However I do agree that a change of 'voice' can add to a song's overall 'mood', and how it comes across. In general I think Jagger's use of falsetto has been effective, for example. As far as his 'voice' on 'Luxury' goes, I think it's questionable. Ok so he didn't exactly black his face, put on a pair of white gloves and sing 'mammy', and it was the 1970's. I wonder however if he would feel it would be advisable these days to affect (badly) a Jamaican 'voice'?

I also agree that a change in 'sound' is no bad thing. I think if the Stones were looking for a similar change, some freshness, and not just tonally, Richard's should ditch the open G tuning, and perhaps revert to standard tuning. I feel that he's done open 'G' to death, there's nothing new to be squeezed out of it. It's the main reason why, since at least and including 'A Bigger Bang', just about everything the Stones have released (and it's not a lot) sounds the same....i.e. shite. Just an opinion.
