Cool! I've only seen that once that I can recall, back in NY on the Hudson River, it was very cool to see.

We call that "Pancake ice" in America, I guess the opposite of what you call it ("ice pancake"?), but it means the same thing and looks the same, other then when I saw them on the Hudson River, they were bigger than the ones you get on the river Dee.

But hey, just realize, that's another thing with UK talk verses U.S. talk. When you name your rivers, you usually use the word "river" before the name, like "river Dee", or "river Tame" etc, while here in the U.S. none are named in that way, as the river's name comes first, and then we have "river" after that. The only U.S. river that I have heard sometimes named like that is the Charles River in Boston, which while officially called the "Charles River", is sometimes called the "River Charles" by the locals there. Think of that old hit song about Boston, by The Standells, "Dirty Water"... they called it the "river Charles" in that song.
